Most calls we get fall into one of the problems below. If yours isn’t on the list, it’s still worth a call — a garage door is a small number of parts under a lot of load, and the failures repeat.
Two of the most common failures get their own page because the fix is specific: broken springs and opener faults. If you’re not sure which one you have, describe the symptom on the phone and we’ll tell you.
A door is a balanced system. A snapped cable is usually a symptom of something else — a spring losing tension, a drum out of alignment, a track that got clipped. Fixing only the visible part means we’re back in three months.
Itemised, in writing, with the parts named. If you don’t like it, nothing is owed and there’s no trip charge. We’d rather lose the job than surprise you at the end of it.
Common springs, cables, rollers, hinges and seals are on the truck. If your door needs a part we have to order — usually a specific panel or an obsolete opener board — we’ll tell you the lead time up front.
Not a separate product you buy, and not an extra line item. Labour-only jobs carry a standard one year. Parts run one, two, five years or lifetime depending on what we fit. The exact term is written on the paperwork you keep.
Repairs vary too much to put one number on. A roller set or a sensor realignment is a different job from a rebuild where the tracks, counterbalance and every moving part get replaced. So we look at the door, tell you exactly what it needs and what it costs, and you decide from there. The estimate is free either way and there is no trip fee.
If a repair quote gets close to the cost of a new door, we’ll say so. On a door that’s twenty years old with rusted sections and a rotted bottom rail, replacement is often the cheaper decision over five years, and we’d rather you hear that from us than find out later.
A residential garage door weighs between 130 and 350 pounds, and the springs — not the opener — carry that weight. When a spring goes, the opener is lifting a load it was never designed to lift, and forcing it strips the gear or bends the top section. Don’t park under a door you don’t trust, and don’t pull the emergency release while the door is part-way open.
| Job type | Covered | Term |
|---|---|---|
| Labour-only work | Our workmanship | One year, standard |
| Jobs with new parts | Parts and labour | One, two, five years or lifetime, depending on the part fitted |
There is no separate warranty product and no extra charge for it. The exact term for your job is written on the invoice before you pay, so you are never relying on someone’s memory a year later.
What it doesn’t cover is anything that isn’t our work: another company opening up our parts, a DIY repair attempt, or accidental damage — a vehicle catching the door, or a broom left in the track knocking it off. Those we’ll still come and fix; they just aren’t warranty jobs.
Worthy Garage is two owners, Michael and Eddy. The person who quotes your job is the person who does it, which means there’s nobody in the middle with a commission target. It also caps how much work we take on — we’d rather tell you honestly when we can get there than promise a window we can’t hold.

No. Estimates are free and there is no trip charge. We also run a 25-point safety inspection while we are there and leave you the written results, whether or not you hire us.
Often. We are open seven days and most jobs get handled the same day or the next. We will not promise same-day blindly, though — we are a two-person shop, so call and describe the problem and we will tell you honestly which it is rather than book you in and miss it.
Almost always the photo-eye safety sensors near the floor: knocked out of alignment, dirty, or with a broken wire. Sometimes it is the opener's closing force limit set too low, or an obstruction in the track. It is one of the cheaper problems to fix and one of the most common calls we get.
If the sections are straight and the bottom rail is sound, repair is usually the better money. Once panels are rusting through, the bottom rail is rotted, or the door has been hit hard enough to twist, the repairs start stacking up and replacement wins over about five years. We will tell you which side of that line your door is on.
