Garage door repair
Off-track doors, bent panels, snapped cables, worn rollers, noisy operation.
Repair in DowneyTwo-car tract garages, original 1950s hardware, and doors that have been repaired three times by three different people. We’d rather fix the cause than the symptom.

Downey and the surrounding Gateway Cities are dense post-war tract housing, most of it built between the late 1940s and the early 1960s. The garages have a family resemblance and so do the failures.
Layered repairs. A seventy-year-old garage door has usually been worked on by several people, and not all of them measured. We routinely find a mismatched spring pair, a drum that has slipped on the shaft, a cable seated wrong, or a track bolted back to framing that has since moved. Each fix made the symptom go away and left the cause running. That is why our first visit looks at the whole door, not the part you called about.
Springs at the end of the line. Standard springs run about 10,000 cycles, roughly seven years at normal use. On a house this age you are well past the original set and often past the replacement set too. We fit both springs, because they have done identical work and the second is never far behind the first.
Openers older than the safety rules. Plenty of units around here predate current safety expectations and California’s battery backup requirement. Existing openers are legal to keep and repair, but if yours is past fifteen years with a discontinued board, replacing beats repairing.
Those are the three jobs people ask about most, priced up front. New doors start at $1,800+ installed. Everything else — repairs especially — depends on what the door actually needs, so we look at it, tell you the exact number, and you decide. Estimates are free and there is no trip fee.
General repair, springs, openers, new door installation, tune-ups and high lift — across Downey, Norwalk, Bellflower, Paramount, Santa Fe Springs, Pico Rivera, Lakewood, Cerritos and La Mirada.
Worthy Garage Repair LLC is Michael and Eddy — two owner-operators, no call centre, no dispatcher, no subcontractors. The person who quotes your job is the person who does it, which caps how much work we take on and is exactly why the quote is the price.
Licensed, bonded and insured, and you can check it yourself: CSLB #1155586, classification C-61/D28 (Doors, Gates and Activating Devices), with a $25,000 contractor’s bond and $1,000,000 in liability cover. Look it up on the CSLB website before you let anyone into your garage — ours or anyone else’s.

Usually because each repair addressed the symptom rather than the cause. Mismatched springs, a drum that has slipped, a badly seated cable or a track bolted to framing that has moved will all keep producing new failures. We look at the whole door on the first visit for exactly this reason.
Both. They were installed on the same day and have done the same number of cycles, so the second is at the end of its life too. Replacing one means a second call-out within months and an unbalanced door until then. A standard pair is $500 fitted.
No. California requires battery backup on openers sold or installed since 1 July 2019, but an opener already fitted to your home is legal to keep and repair. Past about fifteen years, though, parts availability usually makes replacement the better spend.
