Whittier has a wider spread of housing ages than most of the cities we work, and the garage is usually the giveaway.
Older homes, non-standard openings. Uptown and the College Hills area carry craftsman and early-century houses whose garages were built for cars that were narrower than yours. Openings are often undersized, headroom is tight, and the framing is real dimensional lumber that behaves differently from modern studs. Doors here get measured to the actual rough opening, never ordered off the previous door’s size.
Hillside garages. Friendly Hills and the Whittier Hills bring steep, short driveways and garages cut into slopes. That means limited backroom, occasional low headroom, and doors that see more grit and debris in the tracks than a flat lot would. It also makes high lift a real question here more often than elsewhere, because ceiling clearance is frequently the constraint on what the garage can be used for.
Post-war tracts in East and South Whittier. Same story as the rest of the Gateway Cities: original or once-replaced springs well past their cycle life, and hardware that has usually been worked on by more than one person.
Those are the three jobs people ask about most, priced up front. New doors start at $1,800+ installed. Everything else — repairs especially — depends on what the door actually needs, so we look at it, tell you the exact number, and you decide. Estimates are free and there is no trip fee.
Non-standard openings and hillside access don’t change the published prices. If a job genuinely needs more than a standard fit, you hear the number before we start — not after.

Worthy Garage Repair LLC is Michael and Eddy — two owner-operators, no call centre, no dispatcher, no subcontractors. The person who quotes your job is the person who does it, which caps how much work we take on and is exactly why the quote is the price.

Whittier and the immediate area — all well inside where we work.
Yes, and it is one of the reasons we measure the rough opening rather than the old door. Craftsman and early-century garages in Uptown and College Hills frequently have undersized openings, tight headroom and original dimensional framing. A door ordered off the previous door’s size is how you end up with a gap at the top.
It can, and it is worth knowing before you buy anything. Hillside garages in Friendly Hills and the Whittier Hills often have limited backroom or headroom. We measure it free and tell you honestly what will and will not fit — including when the answer is no.
Sometimes, and sometimes not — it depends entirely on the clear wall and ceiling above the opening. Talk to us before buying a car lift or racks, because your ceiling decides how much lift is achievable and that number should drive the purchase.
